Mushroom Rocks

We were looking to celebrate summer with a road trip to see something interesting. The Hubs did some searching and discovered mushroom state park.

It was smaller than expected, but there were some truly interesting rock formations.

Cupcake loved climbing on the rocks and posing for pics. Fun family day!

Dandelions

Mom, the neighbor said I could take as many as I wanted!

Summer!

Six weeks of summer have already come and gone! I have been too busy (or lazy?) to keep the blog updated, but we have been having fun. Cupcake has been saving up money from doing chores around the house. Her savings jar was getting pretty full, so we let her take it to the store and pick out a toy. She couldn't find a thing, until she discovered this dress-up dress that she could not live without.

She asked me to make a crown to match. She put it on every morning and kept it on all day.

She wore it to walk around town for errands.

Later she asked me for princess shoes. So we painted up some tissue boxes pinterest-style and decorated them. She was not impressed. Those are not princess shoes, she told me. They're just boxes. Point taken.

Happy 50!

My parents celebrated their 50th anniversary on June 9th. We had a family dinner the night before, and then celebrated with an open house completed with homemade pie and ice cream. I was happy to see so many people come to wish them well, and I think they were blessed by the celebration. I hope to see more pictures, but my niece photographed the event and hasn't passed them on yet. Congratulations, Mom and Dad!

Spring This and That

Spring seemed to take a long time to arrive this year, but when it did . . . we couldn't have been more thankful to watch the world turn green and to soak up some sunshine and warmth. Here we are just enjoying one of those first beautiful days.

A little later, we explored a festival at the park with good friends.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Cupcake is excited about the potential for rain and/or snow later today. As we drove to school this morning, she reminded me that rain or snow equals playing with costumes at Toni's. The kids love to bring out the costumes there, but such fun is reserved for a rainy day.

Then thinking about rain reminded her of this song:

"Rain, rain, go away.
Come again some other day

If you don't, I don't care . . .
I'll pull down your underwear."

WHAT did she just say? Naturally, I am concerned.

I don't want my sweet girl thinking that the pulling down of underwear is funny.
And I definitely don't want her following through on that action.

I started a conversation about her song. We talked about being kind. We talked about alternatives to pulling down underwear. . .

"Hey Mom, How about this song? . . . .

Rain, rain, go away.
Come again some other day

If you don't, I don't care . . .
I'll GIVE YOU SOME ICE CREAM & CAKE!"

Much better. :)

Splendid Saturday

This morning, Cupcake and I took a walk to the post office for stamps. A local store was having a sale with 99 cent sunglasses, so I bought her a pair. The result? Secret Agent Girl.

Then we visited the Grandparents and got to test out their new ride. A Kubota. So fun!

Sweet cheeks woke up early this morning. But she didn't wake up her still-sleeping parents. She busied herself with lining up all her shoes in a row. We love our girl. :)
